Biodiversity Impact Mitigation Project in the Lom Ligor Project Area

The Company continuously conducts biodiversity assessments in the Lom Ligor Project area. The assessments found that the area supports a diversity of species, particularly birds and bats, which may be affected by the operation of the wind power plant. The Company has therefore established systematic biodiversity management guidelines and impact mitigation measures to prevent, minimize, and monitor potential impacts on ecosystems and species of significance within the project area. The key measures are as follows:

1. Measures to Prevent Pollution and Minimize Disturbance from Human Activities Wind power plant operations may cause environmental impacts such as dust, light, noise, vibration, solid waste, wastewater, and disturbance from human activities, which could have long-term effects on the behavior and habitats of living organisms. The Company has therefore established the following prevention and mitigation measures:

  • Minimize the use of lighting to reduce impacts on wildlife behavior and movement at night.
  • Control activities within the project area by establishing operating practices for employees and personnel, such as prohibiting hunting, wastewater discharge, and waste disposal within the area, while minimizing activities that may disturb ecosystems and living organisms in the project area.

2. Measures to Reduce Bird and Bat Collisions with Wind Turbines Collisions with wind turbine blades are considered a key risk to bird and bat populations in the area. The Company has therefore established the following measures to reduce this risk:

  • Enhance the visibility of wind turbine blades, such as by painting the blades and installing appropriate lighting to improve their visibility to birds, particularly long-distance flying species.
  • Improve conditions surrounding the wind turbine area by studying the appropriate use of sound and vibration sources and managing nearby wetlands to reduce the attraction of birds and bats to the wind turbine area.

3. Monitoring and Adaptive Management The Company continuously monitors and assesses biodiversity impacts and uses the resulting data to improve the effectiveness of its impact mitigation measures. The key approaches are as follows:

  • Monitor animal carcasses to assess mortality rates and the direct impacts of wind turbine operations, using the resulting data to develop additional impact mitigation measures in the future.
  • Apply adaptive management by regularly using monitoring and assessment data to improve management measures, ensuring that operations remain aligned with biodiversity conservation approaches and the environmental conditions of the area.
